Quiet Table Guide: July 5-11

Scripture for the week: Acts 11:19-30

So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. — Acts 11:26

‭‭1. Ready Your Heart

Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.

2. Read

Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)

3. Reflect

What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?

4. Respond

How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?

5. Receive

Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.

6. Practice: Tending to What God is Growing

This week, practice the same attentiveness Barnabas brought to Antioch.

Each day, ask one question: Where did I see something growing today that I didn’t plant?

It might be in a coworker, a spouse, a child, a neighbor, or in your own life. Look for the small evidence of grace already at work, not the thing you have to force into existence.

When you notice it, do one simple thing. Say it out loud to the person, or write it down if it’s in yourself. I see God working in you. That’s it. That’s the whole practice.

If nothing comes to mind on a given day, that’s not failure. It’s an invitation to pay closer attention tomorrow.

If you’re tempted to fix, redirect, or control what you notice, resist it this week. Barnabas didn’t manage Antioch. He watered it and stayed.

Practice staying. Keep tending to what God is growing. The Holy Spirit will let you know when it’s time to move on.
