Quiet Table Guide: June 28-July 4
Scripture for the week: Acts 10:34-35
I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.
1. Ready Your Heart
Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.
2. Read
Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)
3. Reflect
What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?
4. Respond
How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?
5. Receive
Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.
6. Practice: Get Close
This week, choose one person you have been assessing from a distance.
Not a category. Not a type. One specific person whose life doesn’t look like what you’d expect faithfulness to look like, or who wouldn’t pass the credential check you carry around in your head.
Your practice this week is simply to get closer.
You don’t have to resolve anything. You don’t have to lower your standards or change your theology. You just have to get close enough to see what is actually growing in that person’s life.
Ask them a question. Share a meal. Show up somewhere they are.
Then, before you sleep, ask yourself: What did I see? What was already growing there that I had not accounted for?
Peter didn’t update his theology in a study. He walked to a specific house and got close enough to see the fruit of Cornelius’s life. And then the Spirit fell and confirmed what Peter was already beginning to see.
The Spirit is always ahead of us. Your job this week is to catch up.
