Quiet Table Guide: June 21-27
Scripture for the week: 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
1. Ready Your Heart
Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.
2. Read
Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)
3. Reflect
What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?
4. Respond
How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?
5. Receive
Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.
6. Practice: Finding Your Coats
This week, sit with two questions. Not once, but each day. Let them become a daily practice of attention.
Who are the people you can’t stop noticing? The ones who show up in your mind when you’re not trying. The ones whose situation bothers you in a way you can’t quite explain.
What do you have in your hands? Not what you wish you had. What you actually have right now. A skill, a tool, a room, a truck, a relationship, a set of hands.
Each day, write down whatever surfaces. Don’t filter it. Don’t evaluate whether it’s significant enough. Just notice and record.
By the end of the week you may begin to see a pattern. The same person or group keeps surfacing. The same capacity in your hands keeps presenting itself. That pattern is not coincidence. It is vocation becoming specific.
On the last day, ask one more question: what would it look like to bring what I have into the space where I keep noticing need?
You don’t have to have the answer. You just have to be willing to ask it.
