Quiet Table Guide: February 15-21
Scripture for the week: John 9:1-7
“As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.”
1. Ready Your Heart
Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.
2. Read
Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)
3. Reflect
What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?
4. Respond
How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?
5. Receive
Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.
6. Practice: Go and Wash
Make some time this week to reflect on a place in your life where you’re finding it easy to focus on the work of the enemy but difficult to notice what God is doing. Invite the presence of Jesus into that place remembering that what the enemy means for evil, God intends for good.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to participate in what God is doing to display his work in you. Forgiveness, letting go of blame, putting down control, these are some of the ways we might align ourselves with the work of the healer.
Take one bold step this week, trusting Jesus to not only heal this part of you but to restore you completely.
