Quiet Table Guide: November 24-30
Scripture for the week: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
1. Ready Your Heart
Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.
2. Read
Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)
3. Reflect
What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?
4. Respond
How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today? Remember what you shared with your group about what you are doing to put the word into practice.
5. Receive
Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.
6. Practice: Putting on your Advent HAT
This five minute practice aligns your everyday life with Advent’s deeper invitation: not to make yourself ready, but to become open to the God who is preparing you
Take five minutes each morning for:
1. Honesty (1 minute)
Sit quietly and answer this one question in God’s presence:
Where do I feel unfinished right now?
Don’t filter it
Don’t fix it
Just name it before God
Honesty opens the heart
2. Attention (2 minutes)
Read 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24 slowly—out loud if you can
Ask:
Where is God already at work in me that I’ve been too distracted to notice?
Pay attention to:
a word or phrase that stands out
a gentle conviction
a small encouragement
a sense of God’s nearness
Don’t analyze
Just notice
Attention awakens the heart
3. Trust (2 minutes)
Pray this simple prayer:
Jesus, I trust you to finish what you’ve started in me. I open this part of my life to you today. Make me ready for your appearing.
Then sit quietly for a few moments and let the promise wash over you:
The One who calls you is faithful, and he will do it
Trust relaxes the heart
