Quiet Table Guide: August 10-16

Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. — Matthew 24:12–13

3. Reflect

What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?

4. Respond

How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?

5. Receive

Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICE FOR THE WEEK: The ROAD Reflection and Prayer

As we seek to put the words of Jesus into this week, how can we acknowledge our struggles without shame, confront inner obstacles with God’s truth, and keep following Jesus faithfully to the finish?

The ROAD is a spiritual practice you can try on this week as a way of continuing to walk the with Jesus when you are tempted to put down your cross.

REFLECT — Reflect honestly on where you might be struggling with the gaps mentioned:

Do you know God loves you but struggle to feel it? Do you sense God’s presence but feel unable to see Him? Do you feel frustrated that you’re not further along in your faith journey?

OFFER — Offer these struggles to God in prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to reveal any inner critic voices, false needs, or unrealistic expectations that may be hindering your walk.

ASK — Ask God to help you pick up your cross again by affirming His love, allowing Him to be God in your life, and embracing His patience and grace as you grow and mature in faith.

DEVOTE — Devote yourself to trusting in God’s timing and plan, allowing the daily process of “failing forward” with Jesus to strengthen your perseverance.

This daily practice will help cultivate the awareness, surrender, and endurance necessary to live out the new life into which we were baptized.
