Quiet Table Guide: Oct 11-17
Scripture for the week: Acts 18:18-28
1. Ready Your Heart
Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.
2. Read
Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)
3. Reflect
What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?
4. Respond
How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?
5. Receive
Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.
6. Practice: Humility & Hospitality
That is the whole practice. One question. Ten seconds in the car or on the walk in.
Over time, this trains you to come to the table the way Apollos did: not as someone who already knows it all, but as someone with something to learn, even from the newest believer in the room.
For hospitality: commit to one table for this season, and treat it like a standing appointment. Midweek, Wednesday at 6pm downstairs, is the easiest door. Or gather a couple of friends and start a Table Group.
You don't have to host to practice hospitality. Showing up faithfully and making room is hospitality.
If you find yourself thinking, "I have nothing to give" or "I have nothing to gain," that is not failure. It is information. Bring it to God honestly, and show up anyway.
If you already have a seat, look at the empty chair beside you. Ask God who it belongs to, and invite them to join you.
