Quiet Table Guide: Oct 4-10
Scripture for the week: Acts 18:1-11
1. Ready Your Heart
Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.
2. Read
Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)
3. Reflect
What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?
4. Respond
How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?
5. Receive
Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.
6. Practice: Presence & Perspective
Paul arrived in Corinth weary and afraid. Even after things turned around, he was still lying awake at night. Jesus didn't rebuke him. He gave him two things: his presence and his perspective.
This week, each morning, ask two questions:
Where is Jesus with me today?
Who has he already placed around me?
Hear his words to Paul as words to you. Do not be afraid. I am with you. I have people here.
If you're weary, let that be enough for today. God fed and rested Elijah before he gave him his next assignment. Rest is part of following Jesus.
If you're refreshed, add one more question:
Who around me is weary, and what do they need?
Paul names three kinds of people: the idle and disruptive, who need a warning; the disheartened, who need encouragement; and the weak, who need help. From the outside they often look the same, so ask before you assume. "How are you, really?" comes before "Where have you been?"
Ask the Spirit to show you one weary person this week and give you insight into what they need. Then show up for them, and be patient.
