Quiet Table Guide: Sept 13-19

Scripture for the week: Acts 2:42, 46-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

‭‭1. Ready Your Heart

Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.

2. Read

Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)

3. Reflect

What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?

4. Respond

How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?

5. Receive

Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.

6. Practice: Take Your Seat

This week the invitation is to actually take your seat.

Show up to Midweek this Wednesday evening. No history required, no preparation needed. Just come and take your seat at the table downstairs at 1 Summer Street. Doors at 6, discussion at 6:30, done at 7:45.

Or gather two or three people you already know and commit to starting a Table Group together. You don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin, you just need people willing to take their seat with you.

If you’d like help getting started, email derek@summerstreetchurch.org.

At the end of the week, reflect: Did I take my seat? If not, what’s still holding the chair empty?
