Quiet Table Guide: July 26-Aug 1

Scripture for the week: Acts 14:15

We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them.

‭‭1. Ready Your Heart

Begin with a moment of silence or a short prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your time together.

2. Read

Slowly read this week’s passage. (Consider reading it out loud or in a different translation each day.)

3. Reflect

What word, phrase, or image stands out to you today? What in your life might the Holy Spirit be drawing your attention to?

4. Respond

How can you allow this word to shape your interactions, decisions, or perspective today?

5. Receive

Spend a few moments in stillness, surrendering your thoughts, plans, and actions to God and resting in the presence of Jesus.

6. Practice: Move Toward

This week, practice staying human-sized by moving toward one person’s brokenness instead of managing it from a distance.

Start by naming one person.

Someone in your life who is struggling right now. A friend, a neighbor, a coworker, someone in your own home.

Then ask yourself three questions.

  1. Have I actually shown up, or have I only helped from a distance?

  2. Do I know what’s really going on with them, or just the surface version?

  3. Am I trying to fix this myself, or am I asking God to work through me?

Then take one small, concrete step this week.

Not a project. Not a rescue plan.

One phone call, one visit, one shared meal, one honest conversation, one committed time you’ll pray for them by name.

Pick a day and a time before you close this guide.

If you find yourself wanting to size up, to carry more than is yours to carry, remember that you are not the source of anyone’s healing. You are only human, like them.

If you find yourself wanting to size down, to keep your distance so it costs you nothing, remember that God came near to us first. He did not help from a distance. He took on flesh and lived among us.

Move toward the person you named. Stay human-sized. Let God be God.
